All Who Call Will be Saved

All Who Call Will be Saved

Read Romans 10

Key Verse 13: “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Observation: In this section, Paul is making a case that anyone who comes to Jesus (whether Jews or Gentiles) will be saved.  You do not have to follow a certain code or mantra or religious rule set to be saved but simply call on Jesus.  All we must do is ask for His salvation.  He builds to this point by also saying in verse 11 you have to believe in him (but as I have looked at this in depth over the past month) this belief is not just an intellectual ascent to Jesus but a belief in Jesus, a full trusting in Him.  Verse 9 highlights this truth as well – you declare with your mouth and believe in your heart and you will be saved.

Application: Coming into God’s kingdom is not so difficult and yet it is hugely difficult.  It is a matter of faith which is so simple and so hard all at the same time.  This “faith” goes well beyond mental assent, it is stepping into the wheelbarrow kind of faith.  I just don’t mentally assent that Jesus can save me, but I must put all my eggs in the basket that he can and will save me.  That depth of faith is easy and hard at the same time.

Prayer: Father, I want to have such bold and confident trust in you that I have no doubt and know fully that I am with you.  I want to have complete faith that I am heading to heaven, and that I am part of your kingdom now.  I don’t want any doubt left in my heart.
