Read Romans 3
Key Verse: “4 Not at all! Let God be true, and every human being a liar.”
Observations: This verse jumped out at me as I was reading a commentary note from Spurgeon on this passage that was fairly strong: “If God says one thing, and every man in the world says another, God is true, and all men are false. God speaks the truth, and cannot lie. God cannot change; his word, like himself, is immutable. We are to believe God’s truth if nobody else believes it. The general consensus of opinion is nothing to a Christian. He believes God’s word, and he thinks more of that than of the universal opinion of men.”
Application: Our world tells lies of all kinds and some of those lies are about God. The world declares that God does not exist, that God does not matter, that He is okay with evil, that he created evil, that He is God of all religions, that all roads lead to heaven, that hell doesn’t exist and that salvation is pointless… On and on go the lies but no matter how good they sound, how strongly false religions of our day believe in them and espouse them, it does not make them any more true.
Prayer: God, I pray that you will free people who are trapped in a lie of the world and the devil. Give freedom to people who are being told the lie that their life and lifestyle doesn’t matter. So many people are living in the lie that religion really doesn’t matter and is just a hobby for people who like that kind of stuff. Father, I know family members caught in this that Christianity is just a sham for gullible people, that this stuff is not that serious. God renew my heart and my passion to be doing the work I should be doing. Help me to stand against the lie that You do not matter and that You are not worth our time and effort.
